Camp FAQs

Where is your camp located?
For the first time this Summer 2020, we will be running camp from Groove School of Dance, 491 Eglinton Avenue West, Suite 400.

How old must my child be to participate in camp?
Dance & Design Camp is created for children entering grades SK-6.

Are the groups separated by age/grade?
With 13 or fewer campers enrolled in a session, all children, regardless of age will likely be in the same group. With 14 campers or more enrolled in a single session, children will be separated in to 2 groups by grade.

How much does camp cost?
A 5-day session costs $450 per camper. 4-day sessions (due to stat holidays) are pro-rated to $360 per camper. PA Days cost $89 per camper.

Single days may be booked for Summer camp beginning July 1st. Single days cost $99 +hst.

PA Days cost $89 +hst per day.

What time does camp run daily? Do you offer before and after care?
Camp drop-off is between 8:45-9:00am, and pick-up is between 3:45-4:00pm daily. Before care is available from 8:00-8:45am, and after care is available from either 4:00-5:00pm.

What does the general daily schedule look like?
Drop-off                     8:45am-9:00am

AM Session               9:15am-11:30am (w/a 15 minute snack break)
Park/Lunch/Yoga*  11:30am-1:30pm
PM Session               1:30pm-3:45am (w/a 15 minute snack break)

*Yoga during summer camp only, unless otherwise indicated.

I see that Fridays are PJ & Performance Day! What does this entail?
Each Friday (4 & 5-Day Camp Sessions Only) is PJ & Performance Day! On this special day, come decked out in your comfiest set of PJ's (weather appropriate), and get ready for an afternoon of special activities and pizza lunch*! Everyone will have a chance to present their dance performances & design galleries** to an audience filled with family & friends!

What do I need to pack for camp?

  • change of clothes
  • comfortable shoes for the park
  • park appropriate clothing
    • Spring/Summer- sunscreen, hat, water bottle
    • Winter- snow pants, hat and mittens
  • NUT FREE lunch and 2 snacks
  • Water bottle
  • Either dress in leggings or jersey shorts or be sure to pack a change of clothes for dance.
  • Please refrain from bringing cell phones, tablets, mp3 players or any other tech gear to camp.
    • Designher Co. is not responsible for any lost or stolen items. These items will not be permitted for use during camp hours.

My child has no prior dance or yoga experience, will that be an issue?
Not at all! Our focus in on creative movement and fun, which is extremely free spirited and interpretative. Our yoga teacher is certified, and trained on properly teaching yoga to both children and adults.

What types of crafts do you create in camp?
We specialize in high-end craft, and make items you'll want to borrow (read: keep) from your mini fashionista! Each day we will complete at least 1 project ranging from fashion and jewelry, to gift items and keepsakes.

Do I need to purchase any special dance or craft gear for my camper?
Nope! For the dance/yoga portion we recommend comfy clothes such as leggings or shorts and a t.shirt or tank top. No dance shoes are needed, but please wear runners or other comfortable shoes you can dance in. While we do provide aprons for the messy activities, please dress in clothes you don't mind getting a little dirty.

What qualifications do DHC camp counsellors have?
We're glad you asked!  All our camp counsellors have vulnerable police check clearance and are CPR-C and First Aid certified. Your kids are in good hands!

What is your Camp cancellation policy?


Prior to May 1st of the summers calendar year: A refund will be issued less a $30 administrative fee.

After May 1st of the summers calendar year: A DHC studio credit will be issued (no expiry) less a $30 administrative fee.

No refunds or credits will be issued within 30 days of the start of your scheduled session.

Subject to availability, you may move your booking to another session. Session changes are not permitted within 30 days of the start of the booked session.

Before and After Care is non-refundable.
